Frequently Asked Questions

do i need to be in shape or able to do all the movements to start crossfit?

Absolutely not!

The coaches at Pennington CrossFit will teach each movement and help scale every member as needed. In each class, you’ll find multiple people scaling for whatever version of the workout serves them that day, be it lighter weight and/or modified movement and/or decreased reps.

i’ve never done crossfit before. what is the process for getting started?

All new CrossFitters go through a 3-day fundamentals session, which teaches the basics of CrossFit, squats, presses, and Olympic lifts. Fundamentals is typically conducted 1:1 with an athlete and coach, or in a small-group setting.

Visit our “New to CrossFit” page to learn more about our onboarding process.

After fundamentals, individuals are ready to join our all-level CrossFit classes. All members, new and seasoned, are encouraged to discuss any injuries, limitations, or concerns with their coaches during class.

will i be locked into a membership contract? What if I cannot come for a few weeks or more?

For people whose memberships are on auto-renew, they will automatically be charged on the 15th of every month. However, there is no contract, and memberships can be canceled for free at any time.

Memberships can also be put on hold for a minimum of 14 days. For example, if someone is traveling for 3 weeks, they can put their membership on hold for 21 days and not be charged. When they come back, their membership will start again with a new auto-renew date.

what is the culture like at pcf?

Each gym is different, and at PCF, community and support are pinnacles of who we are and what we do. Members cheer each other on during workouts and celebrate their wins together. We have many community events, parties, and potlucks throughout the year, while also giving back to our local community through food drives, donations, and other activities.

The best way to get a feel for our community is to try a class and see for yourself!
